This is the first in a series of blogs about faith.

We all have faith in something.  I want to inspire you to discover what you have faith in and why.  This will allow you to act more genuinely and have a clear direction towards your vision and goals.

I Have Faith in Many Things

Faith is a strong belief or trust in someone or something.  I have faith in many things such as; God, myself, my husband, airplanes, experts, the internet, and my friends.  My religious faith has always been evident; however, that is not the extent of my faith.  My ‘faith’ determines how I make decisions, what I say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to, and who I believe.

We all Have Faith in Something or Someone

Opportunities arise every day to take a step in this direction or that.  Faith clarifies how we direct our feet as we walk through life.  Let’s say you have faith in your spouse’s ability to make good travel decisions and he wants to go to Timbuktu.  You’ve never been to Timbuktu and are not sure you’ll like it, but because you have faith in your spouse’s ability to make a good decision, you go to Timbuktu without knowing anything about it.

What Do You Have Faith In?

Have you ever considered what you have faith in?  When push comes to shove:

  • What do you believe?
  • Who will you be loyal to?
  • Who or what will you trust?
  • What are your convictions?

What will you hope for in spite of the circumstances?  Consider the lives of Martin Luther King Jr., Wilma Rudolph, and Mel Fisher.  Each one of these people had faith in something despite the circumstances and spent years in pursuit of it.  They did not let others dampen their fervor towards their vision and goal.

Be Clear About Your Faith

It is important to be clear about who or what you have faith in for your life.  Ask yourself today what you have strong beliefs in and what you trust in.  What do you believe about death, and life?  What are your priorities when it comes to work and family?  What do you value so much that you will spend your time, emotions, and money on?

Getting to the root of your faith is important to you and to those around you.  It will help define and refine your vision and goals.

We all have faith, . . . the question is, in what?

Here's a song that will show you the power of faith
